Uttara Bank PLC, one of Bangladesh’s oldest and most esteemed financial institutions, celebrated its 50th anniversary of banking service in 2015. The bank began its journey as the “Eastern Banking Corporation” on January 28, 1965, with just four branches. Following independence, Eastern Banking Corporation was nationalized and renamed “Uttara Bank” on March 26, 1972. After its privatization in June 1983, the bank was renamed “Uttara Bank Limited” and soon became one of the largest private-sector banks in the country.

On July 3, 2023, the bank underwent another transformation, rebranding itself as “Uttara Bank PLC” to reflect its evolving identity.
