The bank was established in 1999 under the leadership of the late Mr. Shahjahan Kabir, the founding chairman, who had a long dream of launching a commercial bank that would contribute to the socio-economic development of our country. The bank has been known as Bexim Bank Limited since its inception. But due to legal hurdles, the name of the bank was changed to EXIM Bank, which exports to Bangladesh Export Import Bank.
